Ivan Fedele (Lecce, 1953) is considered among the most important contemporary composers. His works span from chamber and symphonic to electronic music and titles for theater, radio, and cinema; they have been conducted by major figures including Pierre Boulez, Riccardo Muti, Antonio Pappano, Riccardo Chailly, and Esa-Pekka Salonen and performed by leading international orchestras and ensembles such as BBC London, RIAS Berlin, Chicago and San Francisco Symphony Orchestras, OSN of RAI, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Ensemble InterContemporain, and London Sinfonietta.
Alongside his compositional career, Fedele has served as professor at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia until 2023 and was Artistic Director of the Music Sector of the Venice Biennale from 2012 to 2020. His contributions to contemporary music have been recognized with numerous honors, including the the lifetime achievement award “A. Honneger” and titles of “Chevalier de l’Ordre des Lettres et des Arts” from the French Ministry of Culture and the “Chevalier de l’Ordre du Mérite Culturel” by Prince Albert II of Monaco.
